The professional landscaper's choice in pruning tool
March, 2008, Portland, OR—Leatherman Tool Group is now introducing the Genus™ pruner multi-tool for avid gardeners and professionals. Genus features stainless steel bypass pruners on an anodized aluminum body. But in typical Leatherman fashion there's more—and in the case of Genus, a full tool-set more.
These new pruners have an industry-first: A rotating and locking handle that stores a full set of professional tools. Just push the button and flip the handle around and you'll find a knife, Phillips screwdriver, sprinkler-head adjustment tool/flat screwdriver, bottle opener and very aggressive saw. The heat-treated, anodized aluminum body gives Genus the optimum balance of weight, durability, and corrosion resistance. The 420HC stainless steel tools and pruner give it the strength of a professional-grade tool.
When pruning is all you need, the tools are neatly tucked away and the comfort-sculpted design is ready to use. "Professionals demand comfortable handles. While we wanted to pack them full of tools for all aspects of their job, we knew to do this successfully we had to first focus on the ergonomics of the handle itself. There was simply no room for design that lent itself to any kind of hand-fatigue," says Sr. Design Engineer, Jeff Caniparoli.
Included with Genus is a diamond-coated file that doubles as an open-end wrench to adjust the pruner nut when necessary. Genus also features replaceable cutting blades and spring, heavy-duty nylon sheath and is backed by the legendary Leatherman 25-year warranty. Genus MSRP is $99.00 and is available through garden centers and online nationwide.
