Leatherman and LED LENSER USA Donate to Outward Bound Students and NOLS® Instructors
Portland, Oregon - July 19, 2013 - Leatherman® and LED LENSER® USA are supporting their mission to prepare people for the expected and unexpected by providing gear to leaders at the yearly NOLS® summit in May 2013 in Lander, Wyoming, and to instructors and scholarship students at the Northwest Outward Bound School in local Troutdale, Oregon.
Leatherman Tool Group, Inc., parent company to Leatherman multi-tools and LED LENSER lights, has been equipping professionals in the backcountry for the expected and unexpected for 30 years. The opportunity to donate 100 H7 headlamps to the NOLS instructors was the perfect match for the company's mission. "These instructors are the best at what they do and they deserve the best equipment," said LED LENSER Channel Manager Kevin Gleason. "It's important that they can focus on the wilderness skills and environmental-stewardship education they're there for and not have to worry about their gear."
"We're excited to have Leatherman and LED LENSER support this annual NOLS event by donating such useful, practical gear," said Summit Coordinator, Lauren Crenshaw. "It is certainly an exciting gift to offer to folks that attend this year's Faculty Summit. This 3-day event focuses on professional development and brings together NOLS field and WMI instructors from all over the world."
Instructors at the Northwest Outward Bound School will also be receiving H7 headlamps, along with one of Leatherman's most popular lightweight multi-tools for backcountry travel, the Skeletool. In addition, Leatherman's best-selling Wave model is being donated for use in the school's emergency preparedness kits. The company is also providing headlamps to their Pinnacle Scholars, students from low-income families who, through the support of donors, have a life-changing Outward Bound experience.
"Northwest Outward Bound School Board of Directors is thrilled accept a generous donation of Leatherman tools and LED LENSER products for use in achieving our mission of building character, developing leadership skills, and creating an ethic of social and environmental responsibility," stated Henry Morse Jr., Board Chair of the Northwest Outward Bound School. "Our instructors will carry the tools and headlamps into the wilderness on each course during the summer of 2013 when we plan to serve approximately 500 students."
