        Comments about Leatherman 5:

I am happy to report my BTN 5 took its first airplane flight. I've long said, "if they'd let ME carry a Leatherman, the flight would be a lot better". There have been tray tables & seat backs I could've fixed, overhead bin locks I could've repaired, more than a few backpack and luggage zippers opened, even some snack packs may had not been strewn about the cabin... Thrilled to carry this tool for the just-in-case times...

          Comments about Leatherman 5:

I purchased this to compliment the multi-tool I carry for work. To be honest, I really did not pay attention to the length of this tool when I ordered it.

This tool is too short, so getting enough leverage to twist a bolt of just average tightness is a chore. The tool really needs to be 1 to 2 inches longer.

I've tried adding leverage by using a multi-tool, but that is a challenge in itself. When you can get a grip on the tool with pliers, it forces the wrench to sit at an angle and then it want's to slip off of the nut.

If you're looking for a tool like this to carry, get the Piranha 2 instead; it is basically the same thing, but longer (3.9" vs. 2.5") and with a screwdriver bit.

          Comments about Leatherman 5:

I am disappointed since I cannot find a use for it. I have the Wave and love it but this tool has few if any uses. Plus my reaction is tainted by the fact that it took a full 2 weeks first-class to get it here. I almost cancelled the order but it arrived the day I was going to cancel.
I am carrying it on my keyring but have yet to find a use for it.
