The Blade Launcher® is a finger placement pad located at the pivot point on the spine of the knife. Comments about Crater c33T:
I have long looked for the perfect everyday knife to keep in my pocket. I have a collection of small knives that are great for everyday carry. However, none of them remained in my pocket as long as this one has. All the others were either lacking something or didn't appeal to me in terms of construction. Some became damaged easily and others just weren't designed like the Crater is. The moment I acquitted this knife I was amazed at the engineering behind its construction. The glass/nylon handles feel quite durable. I'm not afraid of them scratching or cracking at all. Peering in between this knife's textured black handles I noticed the amount of precision this knife has. Everything has a place and it all fits perfectly. Every component inside the knife was carefully positioned and design to work well next to the other components beside it. The friction locks for the tools and frame style lock for the blade all function great and are super easy to use. The flat head screwdriver is a bit hard to pull out at times, but I've never not been able to open it. Both of the screwdrivers themselves are the perfect size. The flat head might be a little too thick for some applications, but I'd rather it be thick than weak. As for the Phillips, it is large enough to work on the bigger bolts but also small enough for littler screws. Not small enough for things like glasses though. Moving on to the carabiner/ bottle opener, this tool was well constructed and works great. I have opened several bottles with ease (root beer, of course). And the spring gate that keeps the opening closed also grabs the bottle cap. No more losing them on the floor. I find myself using the pocket clip way more than the carabiner though. But its always nice to have options. Speaking of the pocket clip, its nice and sturdy, no problems at all, and has the word "LEATHERMAN" proudly engraved down the length of it. Now, the main feature of this knife: Well, the knife! The knife is a good length for everyday carry. I have never needed more length on the blade. The edge came razor sharp and stayed very sharp for a while under light usage. I find the Blade Launcher to be a bit useless. The thumb stud works way better. I can deploy the blade just as fast a spring assisted blade with the thumb stud. The Blade Launcher, however, usually doesn't deploy the knife completely and its pretty low profile. Kind of hard to use with the pad of my finger. The finger nail is a bit better. Maybe if you like using the thumb stud in conjunction with the launcher it would work better.
Overall, very very awesome knife. After purchasing this knife I'm not even interested in other everyday knives. This one exceeded my expectations and has never failed. Quick to deploy and slide in a pocket, bottle opener, and screw drivers. It even has the Leatherman logo on it. What more could you ask for?
