Disappointed At First, But Truly Satisfied Afterwards
I live in Malaysia and I first discovered Leatherman products through net surfing. I was initially skeptic about the usefulness and portability of such a product, but was also really attracted by its look and thought to give it a try. I got myself a charge TTi (which is pretty expensive in Malaysia by the way) and have carried it everywhere ever since.
However, just within a month, I notice small rust spots appearing on the tool. Honestly speaking, I was quite disappointed and some of my friends told me that I should have chosen a Swiss knife which was more highly polished and less rust-prone. Frustrated, I sent an e-mail to Leatherman to lodge a complaint. I didn't really expect a reply since I had bad experience with lodging complaints to another company. However, within a week I got a mail from Leatherman, addressing that they understood of my problem and I could exchange the tool for a new one at local store. I am happy with their positive behavior and thus thinking about giving the tool more time to prove itself. To my delight, after spraying the tool with WD40 for a few times the rust spot was getting less and now it seems that rust would never appear anymore. Nevertheless, I keep on my effort on sharpening and spraying the tool every month. My best advice for all Leatherman owners, the tool really needs some time of usage and maintenance to be really nice to use. Be patient with it, and it would sure turn out to be your most trusty buddy.
