Be Prepared

It's important to plan ahead for potential disasters. Make a plan, compile a disaster kit, and be informed. Remember you may be without the basics like running water, electricity, or access to communications and relief for up to 72-hours. Below is a list of items to get you started creating a family disaster kit; each family member, including pets, should be accounted for when thinking about quantities. You may also want to plan a smaller version of this kit for your automobile(s):

  • Water and water treatment tablets
  • Food that does not require electricity to be prepared
  • Medications and Special Items
  • Leatherman multi-tool
  • Flashlight(s)
  • Batteries
  • Sanitation
  • Extra cash (ATM's may be down)
  • Hand-crank or battery-operated radio
  • Clothing and bedding
  • Important family documents
  • First Aid kit
  • Items for family pet(s)
  • Full list for home
  • Full list for pets
