The Mighty Micra

Ever have one of those days where you pick up a splinter so small that you can't see it, but you certainly can FEEL it? Well, I had one of those days.

After feeling this rather sharp pain along the pad of my thumb and not seeing anything, I finally put the magnifier of a Swiss Army Knife to use and discovered this minute, black splinter embedded into my thumb. For a situation like this, I felt a pair of tweezers with a straight, flat tip was in order. So, out came my Leatherman Micra!

The nice, long tweezers were unfolded and the handles closed together. What made the Micra ideal to use was the fact that I could fold the tweezers down to form a nice curve along the overall length of the tool to better fit into my hand.

Once again putting the Swiss Army Knife magnifier to use, I was able to sight in the splinter and bring the ends of the tweezers over it. Once squeezed together, the ends of the tweezers securely grasped the tiny splinter and pulled it from my thumb. Things definitely felt a lot better after that.

The Micra might be small, but it's definitely worth its weight in gold!

Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.
