But What Do You Do With It?
Some years ago I visited my friend Brent while he was working on the power steering of his Jeep. I had just received my Leatherman Super Tool. One of Brent's comments about the tool, other than "Nice knife" was, "but what do you do with it?"
Steering repairs completed, we jumped into the Jeep and went for a test ride on some nearby logging roads. Some miles from the house the left rear brake began to hang up and skid to a stop. We turned around to head back to the shop but the brake locked up completely in a short distance. Brent's tools and tool box were still back in the shop. I crawled under the Jeep and used my Super Tool pliers to remove the self-adjuster plug from the backing plate, and then the big screw driver blade to back off the star wheel of the self-adjuster until we could free the wheel to rotate. We then limped home very slowly.
Back at the shop we found a blown wheel cylinder on that brake. I told Brent then "Well, now you know what you do with it!" Brent now carries his own Leatherman on a daily basis, but he doesn't have as many different ones like I do.
