Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.

The Wave Saved the Fishing Trip

I had gone on a fishing trip to Wollaston Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada. I was out on a lake with a fishing guide 3 hours from base camp A good 50 to 75 miles on water in a 20' aluminum boat and 50 HP motor, fishing for monster pike. This place is so far north it goes to 40 below zero in winter. When we lost power to the motor it wouldnt start. I had my Leatherman Wave. The problem was the fuel manifold had cracked from the engine block and pulled the fuel line out.

We drifted to a small island, after taking the engine apart with my Leatherman. I cut rock hard pine sap from the trees and heated it by holding the sap with the Leatherman tool and I patched the bracket; it took a lot of sap and work, but I got the boat running and we headed back to camp. I fished along the way and caught a 48 inch Pike, a real trophy. The Leatherman really saved the day and the trip.
