One Leatherman
If you asked me mates they would surely tell you that I have often been heard to say why carry a tool pouch when you can take a Leatherman. I bought my Wave as a present to myself for my 17th birthday. In the 2 years I have owned it, it has had a pretty hard life but has stood up to the flogging amazingly well.
I used it as a block one day when I had to jack up a 40 ton trailer. It wasn’t exactly safe, but getting a block would have meant time and time wasn’t something at hand and I only needed another half inch out of the jack. The wire strippers are better than any strippers you can buy specifically for the job. The scissors will cut anything and are easy to sharpen. The pliers will grip onto anything. They’ll even undo head bolts on small petrol engines. The knife blade design is excellent the way you can flick the blade out one handed if necessary. As for the saw it was going great but I bent it after cutting through a heap of 2x4 hardwood. And the wire cutters have coped a fair grueling. The jaws are twisted from me using them to undo the disks on grinders. And I lost one screw driver bit.
In the 2 years I’ve owned it I’ve caused half a dozen people to buy them and have bought one for a couple others. All in all I’ve got to say "why carry a tool belt?” But the Wave is getting old and has the used look. If they don’t follow my hints and get me a Charge TTi for Christmas then.... I’ll have to get it myself. My congratulations to the Leatherman team for designing an unbelievable tool and to anyone thinking of buying one.... stop thinking and do it; you'll never find anything handier.
