Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.

Built to Last a Lifetime

I own a Leatherman, which I bought back in 1983. At this time, in England, there wasn't many, if any, of these tools like this around. It was imported directly from the USA. I chose it because it was high quality and had a lifetime (25 year) guarantee.

At the time I worked for a big UK Communications company and during this time I found it invaluable. It was versatile and always up to the task at hand. It never, ever has let me down. I lost it many times, but luck seemed always to be on my side and I always managed to find it again. I took it everywhere with me, even on my vacations to Europe and the USA. I was never once stopped in an airport when I went through the metal detectors.

Sadly this is not the case today and so I am limited to where I can take my tool. These days it is of too much personal value for me to chance losing it outside of my home and I do sometimes feel lost without it or find myself in a situation where I think "my Leatherman would be ideal for this job", but I didn't have it with me. Just wanted to say thanks and to show my appreciation for a tool that is still as useful today as it was 27 years ago when I bought it.
