Leatherman Saved My Life

Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.

October 2010

From the Mission field through the farm, to school.

In 2007 I got a Leatherman Kick to take with me on my mission to Illinois. I left in September, and I soon became the tool guy of the mission because I used it to fix absolutely anything that came up, even if it was to hammer something. In 2008 I was in Wal-Mart looking at pocket knives (this is something I can't help but do, I guess I'm obsessed :) when I saw the Leatherman Surge. I instantly fell in love. As a missionary I had an allowance of $150 a month and the Surge would take about half of that, but the temptation was too great and I ended up getting it. I spent the first afternoon admiring it, and familiarizing myself with it. I used it just as often as my Kick; more so because of all the extra stuff.

When I came home to Idaho in 2009 I continued to use it more than 4 or 5 times a day as I worked on the farm moving pipe, fixing pivots and whatever else happened to come up. I am now in school, and still find some way or another to use it at least once a day. The other day I saw an ad on the MUT, and the same thing happened. I instantly fell in love, and will be getting one as soon as they come out.
