Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.

Saved by a Wave (again!)

I was riding my motorcycle home from a really long trip, about 300 miles. I was about 50 miles from home in a small town and I stopped in heavy traffic. Someone came running over and said my sidestand was down, which was a real shock. It seems the spring had broken whilst I was riding along, and if I hadn't been told, I would have certainly crashed on a left hand bend shortly after. I parked the bike and called the recovery people, and they said they would be a couple of hours. I was cold and hungry, and didn't fancy hanging around that long, so I looked around and found lots of cable ties on a street sign. In a couple of moments I had removed a few with my Leatherman, and I propped the bike up on a wall and fixed the sidestand up with the cable ties. I was home in no time. My Wave is a really early one, worn and sloppy with so much use, I would never go anywhere without it!
