Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.

My Wave Keeps a Friend Cool on a Hot Day and Saves the Neighbors Dog

I upgraded to the Wave from the Fuse about 2 weeks ago, on reference from my supervisor, who has carried one for 6 years now and loves it. It had done small odds and ends things until recently.

Yesterday I was visiting a friend at his new home, which he hadn't even fully moved into yet, and we noticed it getting hot in the house. We went outside to find the outside unit was running, but the motor to the fan had gone out and the unit was tripping to keep from overheating. The only tool that was on the property was the Wave on my belt. We pulled the cover off and remove the blade and motor. We went to town and got him a new motor, and installed it again, with only my Wave. So now, because of it, he is once again in the cool. He went to Lowe's, where I got mine, and bought himself a Wave after we finished putting the AC back together.

My Wave once again saved the day, and also saved a life. I was sitting here in the house about 3 hours ago when I heard a loud yelping, like an injured dog. I knew mine was in the house, but I quickly took off into the woods behind the house to see what was going on. I walked about 50 yards behind the house to find the neighbor’s miniature collie, named Molly, had got hung up in a briar patch (knowing her) chasing deer or something. Anyhow, out quick came the Wave and I used the serrated blade to cut through the briars, but had to use the saw to cut through some of the thicker ones. After cutting and sawing for about 20 minutes, Molly was almost free, but I had to hold her to get the remaining pieces of briar off of her. I then opened the pliers and pulled 13 thorns out of her, some of which were pretty deep, and 5 small ones from my arm. When I was done, Molly licked my hand and took off running back home. I believe had I not been home, and not had my Wave with me, she would have probably tired herself out and dehydrated as hot as it was, or the coyotes would have gotten to her later that night.

Thanks to Leatherman for a literal life saver of both people and animals!
