Peace of Mind
What does my Leatherman Surge mean to me? Three words: Peace of Mind. Did I use my LM to disarm the clock of a thermonuclear device, saving the world from certain destruction? Nope. Did I use my LM to quickly pick the lock of a burning orphanage and save all the resident kids? Can’t say I did. But I do work in very heavy industry. I am a hard rock mining consultant, where our key metrics measure TONS of rock moved and crushed. The Earth does not give up its ore easily so mining work is physically challenging, dirty, explosive, and despite many safeguards it can be dangerous. To do that requires some of the largest and heaviest equipment found anywhere. The men and women who work in the mining industry are some of the toughest folk you will ever meet and they need tools to match in order to keep the trucks and machines moving. So when I walk into my current engagement at a gold mine in one of the most remote parts of the Argentinean Patagonia packing my LM Surge, I know that at the very least I can count on a tool up to any task I may be called upon to perform. Like when one of our trucks took a bad flip on a slippery mine road. Our crew cut themselves out of their jammed seatbelts using their LMs and thankfully no one was hurt.
So if it is tightening that loose tiny screw on my eyeglass frames to extricating myself from a flipped truck, and anything in between, I have the peace of mind that my Leatherman Surge is up to the task. By the way, I have outfitted several of my client mine supervisors with Leatherman tools here in Argentina, and they too send a collective “muchas gracias” from the Patagonia/Argentina to you fine folks up in Oregon, USA. Rest assured you are well known in these parts and highly respected.
