Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.

Surprise in the Grouse Woods

This fall, while on our annual grouse trip, one of our black Labs was introduced to a porcupine. The introduction did not go well for Bear. After hearing the yelp, Bear returned to us a bloody mess. The quills were everywhere - his nose and snout looked like a baby porcupine. The inside of his mouth was also covered, including his tongue. Quickly holding Bear down, we were tried to pull the quills out with our fingers but were unable to due to the blood and saliva which made them extremely slippery. I went work to on Bear's face with my Leatherman Wave. After getting all the quills out, the bleeding had stopped and Bear was back to normal within twenty min.

I truly believe that if I had not had my Wave, Bear would of been in some serious trouble physically and a heavy vet bill would have been added to our trip. Needless to say, a few adult beverages were tipped to the WAVE after that day of hunting.
