Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.

I was being moved to where a new camp (2007) was to be started in Iraq 35 miles Northeast of Bagdad and in the P/X I saw the "CRUNCH" and bought it. When we got to the camp, we went for over two weeks and they couldn't seem to get a convoy through, so this also meant NO TOOLS!

We were on a very tight schedule to have the water point running by the end of March, and it was almost the end of February. My boss and I, by chance, had bought the same tool at the P/X.... and with the two CRUNCHS that we had we started assembling the water point. We got tools in about two more weeks, but most of the work was done with our Leatherman.

I ended up leaving that tool there; only so much you can take on a helo. But I'll have another as soon as I find a store that has them.
