Fire Systems/Alarms Technician
I am a fire alarm technician and my job is to troubleshoot and repair fire alarm system components. I get razzed a lot by co-workers because the only other tool I carry besides my Leatherman is a multi-tester. I have been doing electrical and electronics work for nearly 20 years and have carried a Leatherman for 16. The first time I saw a Leatherman I just had to have one and bought a PST and was hooked.
I now have 26 Leatherman tools and 2 Skeletool CX’s on order from B&H photo video. My favorites have been the Pulse, Fuse, Charge XTi, Squirt E4 and I'm almost positive the Skeletool CX. I have seen and used other multi-tools and NONE come close to a Leatherman. There is almost nothing you can't do with one of these tools; I have used mine to change out 1/2" threaded sprinkler heads to adjusting micro switches on speaker amps. No matter what the job or profession there is a Leatherman tool for it that will eliminate the need to carry a dozen other tools.
There is a reason they come with a 25 year warranty, because they are extremely tough and versatile; heck, they could put a 50 year warranty on them. As far as the warranty, Leatherman is true to their word. I have sent in a few tools for minor repairs and they were fixed and sent back very quickly, no questions asked. Do yourself a favor, go to a retailer that carries Leatherman and just hold one. You will be hooked.
