Skeletool® SX Tools

  1. Needlenose Pliers

A cast pinching tool with an angled nose for holding or manipulating materials, ideal for small objects or tight spaces.

  2. Regular Pliers

A cast pinching tool for holding or manipulating materials.

  3. Hard-wire Cutters

Bypassing cutting blades ideal for cutting hard wire.

  4. Wire Cutters

420 HC stainless steel bypass cutting blades, meant for cutting regular-gauge wire.

  5. 420HC Combo Knife

A knife made from 420HC stainless steel with a half straight and half serrated edge. This style of blade gives the user a choice of precise cuts using the plain section, or cutting through fiber and rougher material using the serrated area.

  6. Carabiner/Bottle Opener

This tool features a one way gate and allows for easy clipping to a belt loop or strap. It can also be used to pop the top on a favorite beverage.

  7. Diamond-coated File

A stainless steel blank coated with premium synthetic diamond particles which create a rough surface that can be used to sharpen hard steel blades with much more precision than wood/metal files.

  8. Large Bit Driver

This driver slot holds any of the full-size Leatherman tool bits in place and allows the user to exchange bits for different jobs. Not intended for the eyeglass screwdriver tip.

Skeletool® SX Features

  1. Handle Bit Storage

Conveniently store Leatherman tool bits in the handle of your multi-tool for easy access in the middle of a job, or for safe keeping when not in use.

  2. Locking Blade

A knife blade that locks into place when fully deployed. A user must manually unlock the blade to fold it away, which allows for a much safer user experience.

  3. Replaceable Pocket Clip

A removable clip which allows the user to wear their multi-tool attached to a pocket or belt loop without the use of a sheath. By removing the clip, the user is able to easily carry their tool in a sheath if preferred.

  4. Outside-accessible Features

This multi-tool features tools that are accessible while the tool is in its folded or closed position, mimicking the functionality of a pocket knife.

  5. One-hand Operable Features

Every feature on this tool can be opened and operated with one hand. This enables the user to keep the other hand free for situations that require multi-tasking or a free hand.

Comments about Skeletool SX:

Disappointed that there is not a secondary bit. Only a "phillips' bit cam this this tool. The old skeletool had both.

Comments about Skeletool SX:

The description on the LM site is poor. In particular it doesn't state clearly that:
1. The tool come with only one bit
2. There is no place to store a second bit (like in the other skeletool models)
3. All 3 pictures are from the same side (interesting why...) - the other side is metal color, like the standard Skeletol, and not black like the CX

The choice of the included one bit is very silly - both sides are Philips - if there is only one bit, better to have one side Philips, and one flat. The opening of the pliers is a bit stiff.

Having that said, this new Skeletool SX is nice - the added file seems good, and is attached in a way that doesn't hurt much the comfort of holding when using other tools (at least if you are right handed - for left handed it might be a problem).

Overall, great EDC tool. Having a pocket clip is great (even though it could be designed better, to hold the tool deeper in the pocket).
