Comments about Surge Premium Leather Sheath:

The original sheath that came with the Surge was AWESOME! for some reason, they redesigned it to hold less, and now is insufficient for fully utilizing the Surge.

I am very disappointed with this product, and what's worse is that Leatherman's only solution to their lacking redesign is to try to get me to buy AN ADDITIONAL sheath to make up for their poor design.
Pity, I've always been so happy with Leatherman, but now I may have to shop the competition.

Comments about Surge Premium Leather Sheath:

as usual, Leatherman puts out another low quality sheath that doesn't hold both pieces of the bit kit. the back and side pockets are near useless once you put your surge in. add anything to the back pocket and you can't close the sheath even though the description of this item would indicate otherwise.
I've tried a few sheaths from leatherman over the years and the only one I've found that holds the bit kit is the Velcro closure style however the velcro wears out in less than a month of daily use.

Great sheath, tough, easy to use build. A little big but that's because it's designed to carry other hardware accessories at the same time. I crawl through a lot of attics and work in other places where I scrape against thing, and this sheath has held up its end.

Comments about Surge Premium Leather Sheath:

I got the sheath with the tool, and within a few hours on my hip, it was broken at the belt loops. The sheath is too large to carry vertically and gain easy access to my pocket, so I tried horizontal carry. As I was getting into my car, the sheath caught on the door frame and broke the two bottom sections either side of the lower belt loop hole. It didn't slide on my belt or twist out of the way, it just broke. I have carried a Leatherman Juice XE6 every day for the last 8 years and the leather sheath is simple and the belt clip never gave me any trouble, but it did wear out eventually in the elastic sides. The Surge is twice the size of the Juice and requires a sturdy pouch. Unfortunately this one isn't up to the job

Comments about Surge Premium Leather Sheath:

I never leave the house without my Leatherman tool. After many years of hard use the original sheath wore out and I needed a replacement. This sheath is nice for the fact that it holds the multitool snug. Unfortunately the quality is not as good as the tool it carries. I went through three of these leather sheaths in as many weeks. The leather belt loop on the back of the sheath is only attached to the sheath at four points and is very thin and weak. It broke at these points very easily and the sheath and tool would fall off my belt and I actually lost one of my Surge tools because of it. I voiced my complaints to Leatherman and they were nice enough to send me what they thought would be the answer, the Molle sheath which for me is too big and awkward to use so I have had to resort to using the sheath from my old Super tool 200 which doesn't have a spot to store the file in sheath so that I have had to leave it at home. I hope that in the future Leatherman will finally make a better quality sheath for the Surge, hopefully similar to the original sheath for the Wave.

Comments about Surge Premium Leather Sheath:

This sheath is advertised to hold the Surge tool and a bit kit, which it isn't capable of.
The bit kit consists of two strips of bits, which will not fit in the sheath along with the Surge multitool.
Actually, if the user wants to use this sheath for carrying any bits, he should stow away the spare saw/file blade in a separate container to clear some space.
The side compartments of this sheath COULD hold a pen-type flashlight, or a bit driver extender, but they have no bottoms, so these accessories could easily be lost.

This aside, the sheath is really nice looking and sturdy
It has a two-way strap on the back, which is secured by four rivets can accomodate most belts for horizontal or vertical carry.
Nonetheless it doesn't make it easy to carry the multitool with the bit set.

Comments about Surge Premium Leather Sheath:

The description of this sheath says that it is large enough to carry the Surge and a bit set. I just received it with my new sheath and bit set but cannot fit both halves of the bit set into it with the tool. I am also afraid that the bit extension and the file that I put into one of the side pockets will fall out of the bottom (or top) of the pocket as both are open and both side pockets are fairly loose for even both these accessories put into just one.

Since I plan to mainly keep this in my truck for emergencies, I am not too concerned, but would really have liked to have the option of being able to securely carry everything in one case on my belt. Guess one can't expect everything, even from Leatherman (and this is disappointing as this is my first Leatherman). NOTE: the review site asks if I would recommend this too a friend and I put "yes" but this would be with the qualification that they know its limitations.
