Faith Briggs

Outdoor Advocate Portland, Oregon

I am a self-dubbed “professional nerd,” a runner, and a documentary filmmaker passionate about sharing contemporary stories from diverse communities. I’ve been studying and working in documentary film making for over a decade, including time at the Discovery Chanel. I love to play outside and was featured in Columbia Sportswear’s 2016 Directors of Toughness Campaign.

The experience as a Director of Toughness prompted a change in focus and a relocation from Brooklyn to the Pacific Northwest where I now work at Soul River, Inc., a non-profit that brings Veterans and inner-city youth into the outdoors through fly-fishing and conservation education. Both behind the camera and in the outdoors, it is my goal to create nuanced work exploring themes of global citizenship and representation. I’m a graduate of Yale University and the New York University Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.

Fun Facts

My use of mustard has been called “inspiring.”

I just shaved the back of my head and it was my first haircut in ten years!

When I was 15, I spent two months in Honduras, where I started getting pretty good at Spanish, but I also got parasites. Totally worth it!
