Meet Leatherman Ambassador, Faith Briggs

I’m an extroverted introvert, a fixie-riding overthinker, an angler, and a runner.

I’m a professional nerd with a love of children’s books, an adventurous spirit with a deep love for the outdoors. I’m a writer with no regard for proper punctuation in an ongoing love affair with lowercase letters. My name is Faith E. Briggs and I’m beyond stoked to be a new ambassador for Leatherman.

In many ways, I’m a New Yorker, because home is where you go to visit your grandparents, but beyond that home is wherever I’m surrounded by incredible people. I have found time and again that there are incredible people everywhere if you stay open and look hard enough. I get tired of a lot of words, but I never get tired of the word community, I believe that the people in my life are my best resources. Whether they are sharing their passions and their perspectives, big bowls of popcorn, bottles of wine, laughs or tears (or laughing to the point of tears), hopes and dreams, or frustrations, I so value what it means to be in community with others.

Building community, seeing each other more clearly, learning from and building with unlikely co-conspirators in the joint goal of a better world, that is my work. I have a background in documentary journalism with a focus on representation and I come from the world of both books and films, a world in which I was deeply emerged when I lived in Brooklyn, where a piece of my heart still resides.

I now live in Portland, Oregon. An incredible opportunity to work with Columbia Sportswear in their 2017 Directors of Toughness campaign turned my life upside down and brought me from the city streets onto trails and mountains around the world. These days I get to do the work of sharing stories from diverse communities experiencing the outdoors and encouraging more voices to speak out for the protection of our public lands. I work as the Tactical Operation Producer for Soul River Inc, a non-profit that brings Veterans and inner-city youth into the outdoors on mission-driven experiences focused on environmental justice and conservation education.

I’m so excited to connect with the Leatherman community, cheers to well-equipped adventures!
