A great choice for first-time users, the original Portland, Oregon multi-tool manufacturer is making you your very own Sidekick. This handy pocket-sized tool has all the features you need to get your project done, at a fraction of the cost. The handy, outside-accessible blades mean you can open the knife with just one hand and rounded handles make getting a grip around their all-new, spring-action jaws easy and very comfortable. Stainless steel and backed by a 25-year warranty; first choice, or handy second backup, you can't beat the value of the Sidekick.

Sidekick® Tools

  1. Spring-action Needlenose Pliers

A precise cast pinching tool for holding or manipulating materials, ideal for small objects or tight spaces, that automatically spring back to the open position when not being used. Spring-loaded tools are helpful for reducing hand fatigue that can occur when manually adjusting the grip on the tool with one hand.

  2. Spring-action Regular Pliers

A precise cast pinching tool for holding or manipulating materials, that automatically spring back to the open position when not being used. Spring-loaded tools are helpful for reducing hand fatigue that can occur when manually adjusting the grip on the tool with one hand.

  3. Spring-action Wire Cutters

Bypassing cutting blades meant for cutting regular-gauge wire, that automatically spring back to the open position when not being used. Spring-loaded tools are helpful for reducing hand fatigue that can occur when manually adjusting the grip on the tool with one hand.

  4. Wire Stripper

A useful notch for safely stripping multiple types of wire.

  5. 420HC Knife

A knife crafted from 420HC, a high-carbon stainless steel that is corrosion resistant and can be easily maintained.

  6. 420HC Serrated Knife

A toothed blade crafted from 420HC stainless steel. Serrations grab and cut materials easily, making this style of blade exceptionally useful for cutting through rope or fiber.

  7. Saw

A toothed tool made from 420HC stainless steel that is designed to work on a pull motion, which requires less effort and has less propensity for breakage. The open-tooth design keeps the saw from filling up with material, allowing the user to complete a job without pausing to clean the tool.

  8. Ruler (1.5 in | 3.8 cm)

A precise measuring guide for determining length in inches or centimeters, up to 1.5 inches or 3.8 centimeters.

  9. Can Opener

A lever/punch style tool to assist in opening canned goods, perfect for camping or in survival situations. The blade on this tool has been ground in a way that it pushes the cut metal into the rim, keeping sharp edges from cutting the user as the can is handled.

  10. Bottle Opener

A tool that allows the user to pop the top on a favorite beverage.

  11. Wood/Metal File

A 420HC stainless steel tool with a crisscross pattern that forms a rough surface for the user to file or smooth both wood and metal surfaces. The file pattern on Leatherman files is extended to the end of the file as well as down the side to give a file stoke and/or a more precise file edge.

  12. Phillips Screwdriver

Created originally by Henry F. Phillips, this screwdriver is for use on Phillips head screws.

  13. Medium Screwdriver

A flat bladed screwdriver tooled from 420HC stainless steel, intended for use on medium slotted screws.

  14. Small Screwdriver

A flat bladed screwdriver tooled from 420HC stainless steel, intended for use on small slotted screws.

Sidekick® Features

  1. Lanyard Ring

This secure ring is for attaching the tool safely and securely to a lanyard. Often people who work near water or on scaffolding attach their tool to a lanyard on their person to avoid losing the tool if it's dropped.

  2. Replaceable Pocket Clip

A removable clip which allows the user to wear their multi-tool attached to a pocket or belt loop without the use of a sheath. By removing the clip, the user is able to easily carry their tool in a sheath if preferred.

  3. Outside-accessible Features

This multi-tool features tools that are accessible while the tool is in its folded or closed position, mimicking the functionality of a pocket knife.

  4. One-hand Operable Features

Every feature on this tool can be opened and operated with one hand. This enables the user to keep the other hand free for situations that require multi-tasking or a free hand.

      Comments about Sidekick:

I am nearly always fixing/repairing or building something. Even when I am in my shop (which is full of enough tools to supply Sears) I sometimes grab my Leatherman.

I was 10 miles from home last week when my old 1980 pickups front brakes locked up due to a failure of the master cylinder. I had no tools except my Leatherman. Leatherman and I was able to persuade the front brake line to come loose from the front of the master cylinder and release the pressure from the line and unlock the brakes. I was able to then "carefully" make my way home and replace the master cylinder at my shop.
      Thanks Leatherman.

Hehe - All kidding aside, there are not enough adjectives to rate this tool! I know it's not the best model but for me it was a dream come true!
Extremely pleased with the tool and I hope to buy other models in another opportunity!

Great Backup, but a Fair Few Nitpicks

        Comments about Sidekick:

I got this tool for the value, and because I've been wanting a backup to my Wave, so having to send that in for service was just the excuse I needed. The included carabiner inspired me to keep this, along with my keys, etc. all chained to my belt, a setup that I'm still getting used to. Overall, it's a great tool, but I have my fair share of nitpicks:

I much prefer manual locks on the tools, rather than the spring ones that are on the Sidekick.

I'm a bit wishy-washy on the openings on the sides of the handles to push the tools out. On one hand, it makes them easier to access. On the other, it makes them more likely to accidentally slip out, possibly injuring you.

Being right-handed, the saw is incredibly awdward to access, seeing as I mainly use the tool in my right hand.

I'd much rather thave the serrated blade on the side for easy access, rather than the saw.

The spring in the pliers takes some getting used to, having owned a Wave and SuperTool in the past.

Overall, this is a great tool. I wouldn't replace my Wave with it, but a great tool nonetheless. While I do have a fair few nitpicks, none of them are by any stretch of the imagination dealbreakers.

I am a guy that beats and tests knives and tools to the beyond. I thought I would have broke it by now but it is tough. I love the locking. I think this knife this sidekick is really a sidekick on any adventure you take it. Remember the original American multi-tool. leave Nothing undone!

An absolutely stellar multi-tool: light weight, comfortable, easy to use, what more can I say. I especially like the spring loaded pliers, but I did manage to break the saw after about 8 months (over zealous), regardless you won't be disappointed.
