Leatherman Introduces a True, 100% One-Hand Opening Powerhouse
Portland, OR, January 17, 2012 - For years multi-tool users could choose from two distinct options when it came to a "one-hand operable" multi-tool. The first had one-hand-opening pliers and the second, one-hand opening blades. Today, fueled by extensive research with the U.S. military, Leatherman has taken these two well-loved ideas and fused them into the first ever, 100% one-hand-operable multi-tool, the Leatherman OHT™. And that's just the beginning.
Military work, more often than not, requires multi-tasking. Even during down time, streamlining the most seemingly mundane operations can make a big difference. In working closely with the folks on the front lines, soliciting feedback and input on the design and functionality that would best serve their needs, Leatherman found one-hand operation in all aspects to be high on their list of wants/needs.
The result of this collaboration speaks for itself. Never before has this combination of total one-hand-opening utility, features, quality and design been available on a multi-tool. Staying true to their philosophy of application-driven design, Leatherman has left "nothing undone" with the new OHT.
Not only are they smooth and easy to open with just a snap of the wrist, OHT pliers are spring-loaded, so as soon as they're open, you're ready to go to work. There's no need to tire your hand readjusting again and again to open and close. Just slide the pliers out and get to work. The spring-action also makes it easier to get a grip for all the wire cutting done in day-to-day operations and the 154CM replaceable wire/hard-wire cutters will keep an edge three-times as long as regular steel.
Outside Features You Can See (and Feel)
The OHT has all the tools a solider or marine would expect, and they can all be opened with one hand with the pliers in open or closed position. Every feature locks for safety with a locking-liner system. OHT has four screwdrivers, a saw, threading for #8-32 rod-attachment, two knives, a bottle/can opener, V-notch strap cutter, oxygen wrench and integrated lanyard rings. For use in blackout situations, OHT handles are imprinted with the outline of the tool just underneath for tactile identification.
The Leatherman OHT will begin shipping worldwide in August of 2012 in either black or Coyote Tan (Cerakote™) with a nylon MOLLE sheath. MSRP in the United States on the OHT will be $82.00 and it will be covered by Leatherman's industry-leading, 25-year warranty.
