      Comments about PST:

My earliest memories of the PST was one of the originals we got my Dad back in 1984. He carried it and nothing else the rest of his life. I unfortunately lost it on the job as a police officer, but located another one and still carry it. I love its awesome size and durability! I used it just today to open a car door whose lock handle had broken off, and won't go without it (or my Rebar, another awesome tool!). You can't beat the original! My son just got his Wingman today and said it was me that sold him on Leatherman. Thanks for the great product and backing your products up with first rate service!

I love this tool. My dad got it some time ago (I don't know exactly), but it held up. Now that he's passed I have it & while using the smallest flat head the tip chipped. Nothing wrong with that considering the years and the amount of use it has seen. I decided to retire it as a memory to him & ordered myself a Rebar which I plan on handing down to my child.

I thought this was the worst gift I ever got when my son gave it to me oh so many years ago. I have carried it every day for law enforcement and volunteer fire fighting. I will not put a leg in my pants without it on my belt. I have worn though the case and it is hanging by a small amount of leather. My daughter is a aquanauts and all she wants as a present is a "Leatherman like dad carries". Now I find out the best tool on the planter, and probably beyond, has been discontinued. How do I find a substitute? Gerber?

            Comments about PST:

I've owned and carried my PST since 1992. I've used it so much that I can flick it open and closed like a butterfly knife. It is nicely broken in and has been extremely dependable. I've never had to send it in for warranty but it is still covered under warranty even after 22 years of use! I honestly feel naked without having my Leatherman on my belt. I end up using it almost every single day for all kinds of tasks. The small size and lightweight of my PST was one of my favorite features. Other multi tools were just too big and bulky. I bought an original Supertool when they first came out and found I liked my PST better.

Recently my daughter took an interest in my PST and that caused me to visit the Leatherman website to see what was new. I discovered the Rebar offered some tools and features that were of value to me and the locking tools was a big plus. So, for the first time in over 20 years I bought a new Leatherman with the Rebar. I can't believe how tight and stiff it is.

I got to thinking about it and it is pretty remarkable that my PST was so good, it never left me wanting for a new or different tool after all these years. Had my daughter not become enamored with my PST, I doubt I would have bought anything new. I thought all the new multi-tools were larger and heavier so I didn't have any interest in them. The primary reason the Rebar caught my eye was the small size. I hope my Rebar serves be as well as my PST has after all these years.

Thanks for producing such a well made, durable and dependable product! The PST was and still is a really great multi-tool.

              Comments about PST:

I've been using this tool for the last 27 years, and while I've tried newer versions I always go back to this one. It has the right combination of tools without going overboard like many models, is lightweight and durable. The needlenose pliers are precision enough for picking up small objects and I regularly use them to gently remove tiny lightbulbs from switchlights. It takes a bit of practice to get used to using the screwdrivers without them folding closed, but it can be done. The file is very handy for taking burrs etc off rough items.
I think what I like best about it is it's simplicity. So many of the other models are overkill when it comes to the tools you need everyday.

                Comments about PST:

I think I received mine in 1994, for Christmas, from a family member, after putting on my wish list. From day one, the PST was a life-changer. The knife is well made and sharp -- far more useful than my old scout-type jack knife. A Phillips screw driver is a must have, for the obvious reason that most screws seem to be Phillips. I'll confess that the large and medium regular screw drivers don't get much use since I rarely run into a screw of that sort. But would you believe that the small regular screw driver works on eye glasses screws? I'd have never believed it, but I tried it out of desperation once about a year back and it was a perfect fit! I was always a big awl-user, even with the old jack knives, and the PST's awl is a good one. The small size is the PST's most useful feature because if it wasn't so small, I probably wouldn't carry it as often as I do, though I'm tempted by the additional tools of the larger models. Sure, the PST's handles can be a wee bit tough on the hands, but it would be a lot tougher without the PST. All that said, the PST is definitely not your main survival knife for TEOTWAWKI, but I'd certainly want to have it with me under such circumstances because, just as on a repair job or weekend outing, while you might have heavier duty tools with you, in many cases if you you have the PST in your pocket, you won't need anything else. The only con I can think of (gotta have one, eh?) is the lanyard set up. I was never able to get that working and the small split rings I bought at a Florida fishing supply house snapped off because of the tight angle, so I stopped trying. I don't fish from aboat or use a bosun's chair, but the time might come when a lanyard is needed.

I was given this tool by my local well known tool supplier as we had replaced a huge tool kit that had been stolen. What a gift!I have never been without a Leatherman tool since. I was in Africa on a hunting trip and a friends shotgun mechanism jammed on day one of a two week trip,I managed to strip and repair it in the middle of the bush using only my trusty PST.Moved on to a Charge Ti now but still have the PST.

This was the first Leatherman I bought almost 20 years ago and it is working just as good as the day I bought it. I had to mow alot of grass back in the day to buy it. And now I just got a MUT to service my Sig 516 ar15 and Glock 26 and 19 9mm in the field. I grew up with a Leatherman in my pocket and I wouldnt have it anyother way.

I do refrigeration and the phillips screws found on jobs are all of verying sizes. The Leatherman phillips fits all those screws. The knife is perfect for cutting insulation and the needle nose and wire cutters, perfect for stripping back insulation on electrical cables.
The down side is the comfort of the handle. It gets a little uncomfortable after prolonged use...
