Recent gift purchase

"This is a gift for a guy who thought he had everything. We were recently on a project in Montana. This fellow noticed a couple of us were using them for all sorts of things and started asking about them. Of course the quality is always there and the price point was agreeable. The only thing I did not like, I bought a belt carrier for it as it was labeled “people usually pair this item”. I expected the normal leather belt pouch, and you can almost put a cell phone in this thing."

Disappointed

"This is the first Leatherman I’ve been disappointed with. I’ve been using Leathermans for 30+ years on a daily basis. It’s part of my livelihood at work. This one just does not cut the cake. It’s awkward to open out my natural the clothes. Go back to your original wave that was a classic. That was a piece of artwork that was a masterpiece."

Husband did not like

"My husband used to have the Wave and told me the rebar isn’t even comparable. Do yourself a favor and spend your money wisely. Just another 30 dollars and you’ll have a happy husband lol."

Good Multi-tool

"I got the Rebar as a birthday gift for Competition robotics. Luckily I've not been in a situation where it is used as a last resort set of pliers/tools. Though I am sure it won't fail. It has been a wonderful tool overall. Good Interactions: I have used the awl and can opener to punch through thick aluminum plate when CNC routing aluminum, and I can say that both have held up wonderfully. The pliers are great, and have come in handy for robotics field disassembly when there were no hex sockets left in the field tool box. The Philips head screw driver has also provided great use as I have been in several situations where I have saved time by pulling out my rebar instead of getting up and walking over to get an actual driver. Bad interactions: I had cut some steel wire, which was unusually difficult for the hard wire cutters to cut through. The wire was just a hair over 1/16in in diameter. Unfortunately, the hardwire cutter section of the cutters deformed and left a small gap between the blades even in a closed state. On top of this, the plier pivot must have received some amount of damage or deformation as well, since the pliers are no longer smoothly open and close. The opening and closing action has gotten easier since I have used it, but I believe the steel wire should not have been an issue for the cutters or the pliers. The joints for the other tools are a little stiff. Overall, it has been an awesome tool that has come in handy."

A knife without a sheath

"I have given a rebar to all the young men in our family over the years. Celebrate graduation, receive a rebar and a check for the accomplishment. It has been going on for years. I was more than a little miffed the last time when I purchased one, it no longer comes with a sheath. I called to complain and was given the answer, the sheath was eliminated so as to afford more options like the clip instead. The price went up, the sheath went away, and somehow I am supposed to be thankful that I have more options. Very disappointing. It felt like giving 1/2 a present. I still like the knife, but I likely won't be buying anymore. I don't like companies explaining how I should be happy to pay more when I am in fact getting less."

"I love Leatherman multitools. Hiwever the Rebar i received is very stiff and quite difficult to open. Im sure it will loosen uo the more it is used."

Rough tool, not high quality

"I have quite a few Leatherman tools. Everything from a squirt to an Arc. This tool is very cheaply made. It was covered in machine dust, not cleaned. Very hard to open and use. Even my supertool 300 is easier than this rebar."
