Garage Batch #009: Adapter is designed to work alongside your multipurpose tool while giving you a smarter way to carry the tools and parts your project requires.
Its 3-way ratcheting system allows forward, reverse, and locked positions, so you can keep turning without constantly repositioning the driver. The folding architecture provides three working configurations: straight for extended reach, 90 degrees for leverage, or fully closed for compact ratchet use and pocket carry.
At the opposite end, a threaded metal cap secures a modular cache storage system. The Adapter includes a precision insert with a T-shank wood saw, T-shank file, and double-ended bits. The storage cavity can also be configured to carry spare hardware, hobby tools, sharpening gear, or small repair kits.
Because the cache works with standard bits and T-shank accessories, it functions as a flexible carry system for the tools and parts you choose to bring with you.
A pen and micro screwdriver are integrated for small adjustments, and the tool can be carried on its own with a pocket clip or lanyard, or alongside your multipurpose tool.

"Love the concept. But this seems to be like 80% finished. The insert is 3d printed with poor finishing from a flexible polymer. The 3d printed titanium component is not posted finished and is actively tearing off pieces of the slip joint everytime I open the tool. I appreciate the lower price point for a garage series tool, but clearly the finishes touches suffered."
"I love the ratchet and and the portability. The 3D printing is not ideal and I don't need the saw or file since I would already be carrying another multi tool that has that. The way the 3D printed bit/saw holder is not easy to use. The fact that it doesn't come with a clip for the price is crazy. If anything I'd rather it offer a way to carry for bits for the ratchet."
"As I continue using the screwdriver, the 3D-printed material is wearing down, causing the screwdriver to become loose and no longer stay closed as intended. With additional wear, I do not believe it will reliably hold the middle positions either. Based on the current wear rate, this tool is unlikely to have a long service life."
"One of the things I do not like is the white TPU bit and blade holder. Everytime I pull it out one or both bits fall off. The blades are a little hard to get off. I was wondering if it was actually needed. Get rid of the holder for more room in the handle. The eye glass bit is handy. I use it the most. The pen. . . nope! I want to add something else in its place."
"A very neat original tool, priced appropriately for its form and function. One of the 3-D pieces is extremely jagged, which snags on things. I'm happy to see leatherman testing new thinge in the Garage. I have loved seeing experimentation in the small releases make it to production tools. I welcome the all the true innovative R&D and testing."
"Loved the accessory when I saw it and quickly placed my order when it went on sale in the Garage. Built quality is unfortunately not Leatherman legendary. . . Specifically, I was disappointed with the 3D printed blade holder concealed inside the plastic handle. Otherwise, this is a great accessory, I have been fortunate enough to be able to get one when it went on sale!"
"There were plastic shavings at the pivot from opening the tool, it didn't feel durable, I didn't like the way the tools were integrated. 2 stars because I like that it's a full sized 1/4 inch driver and I want one from Leatherman on a plier based tool and maybe this is kinda possibly probably not a step in that direction."
"I only bought this because it’s leatherman. It’s cool but not very practicable. Ratchet is the same one they sell for multitools so it’s not any stronger than those. The 3d printed bit holder feels very weak. If I actually attempted to use this everyday it wouldn’t last long. If anyone from leatherman garage is reading this please please make a sturdy high quality slip joint plier multi tool that isn’t junk like gerbers is. I would buy that and I know many others will. No needle nose. Classic slip joint pliers style. Mechanics, farmers and hobby mechanics would love it."
"I am disappointed by the use of plastic for the main body, I have suspicions about the longevity of the hinge as a result. The metal section didn't have a nice finish, it is not smooth and the serial number has jagged edges. They are not sharp enough to cut skin, but they are unpleasant to the touch. The 3d-printed insert needed more design work, bits (especially the saw blades) are annoying to take out and it looks and feels cheap. The cap for the chamber also has to come completely off in order to remove the pen or screwdriver. I was very excited to get something from the garage, but I honestly wish I hadn't bought this. As a lifelong fan, I expected much better from Leatherman."
"There sure is a lot of crybabying about not getting emails. Sounds like a you problem and not LTG… however! Here’s a review of the tool for you. I just got mine a few days ago, I rather like it… definitely needs some fit and finish adjustments if it were to be mass produced. I did put a pocket clip from my Free P4 on the 009, but the original mounting screws WILL NOT work. However I had some screws from an R/C Cars front differential that are very similar just double the length and are course thread they worked perfectly. All I need to do now is polish the rough metal and I think I’ll be good to go. I do think for the price it should have come with a pocket clip installed. I’m rather surprised how much I’ve already used it. Definitely needs a way to carry more than two bits. But overall a neat concept."
