"Nope, I’ve owned the original Leatherman tool since the mid 80’s, used it daily in the Army and Air Marshal Service for decades. The “Wave Alpha” is not and will never be its equivalent, the only exception would be the replacement wire cutters. Absolutely no comparison whatsoever, corporate America has failed again. 🇺🇸🍻"
"Did a lot of research between Axis and Alpha. For my use case, the alpha made more sense. Bought with bit driver/extra bits and have been using it regularly. Works as designed! Tools work very well together. I’m enjoying the alpha very much. The topographic handle is another nice feature. Scissors are great! Yes, a bit expensive but, it’s worth it IMO."
"I needed to replace my wave+. When I saw this I decided to give it a try, and its been a great upgrade. I love the handle grips, and the magnacut blade came fantastically sharp."
"It’s a great tool according to my husband. I got it for him for his birthday. My only gripe is that I ordered it and received it nearly 15 days later. That’s pretty slow processing and shipping and needless to say, he got his birthday present a week late."
"This is my favorite Leatherman tool (I have six different Leatherman multi-tools). The redesign of the scissors makes a huge difference in my daily work. The handle is much more comfortable and the new MagnaCut blade is excellent."
"I love this tool and carry it often or pack it when traveling. Magnacut blade is great and look and feel is what you expect from a made-in-USA tool. It isn’t the best value overall, and it’s bulky to EDC which is why I gave it 4 stars. There’s nothing the Alpha can do that the cheaper Wave Plus can’t, besides look and feel cooler."
"Got this for hunting/outdoor use. I wanted to consolidate some of my Equipment when I go on hunts and this did the trick. I can field dress, skin, even process an animal if I need to. Not to mention maintain and repair my equipment, weapons, gear, anything. Absolutely love this thing and the MagnaCut blade is VERY strong/hard. Holds an incredible edge. 100% satisfied. 100% recommend."
"This is the cadillac of leatherman and I've waited 20 years to get it, so my expectations were high. I have two small complaints. The action, moving blades in and out is stiff, clunky, not smooth. I'm going to try a little oil, but I think it should be pre-oiled at the factory. And, I used the black medium flat screw driver tool, the one that is reversible with a phillips on the other end, and it bent slightly with first usage. I was giving the screw a lot of torque, but I feel like it isn't as high grade steel as a decent screw driver. Otherwise, I like the tool."
"I wanted to write a review of the new wave alpha that i just got. Had it for 2 weeks now so I can speak to positives. it is essentially the same as my old Wave with a huge improvement on the knife blade and ease of opening the knife. The larger scissors are also an improvement. My last wave (still use it) was the all-black version. Very cool if you don't work in a metal fabrication/blacksmithing shop, but I do, so it got lost easily. Not with the new orange exterior. I have gone through at least 10 Leatherman tools over the last 2 decades and this one is my favorite. The only downfall in Leatherman that I can see is deleting the case. I stick to leather only and wish I could still get them. Thanks for the great tools Leatherman!"
"Im a firefighter/emt and handyman. I had a gerber for a long time and was tired of it digging into my hands. Then I saw an advertisement for the wave alpha. I have never held a multitool with such high quality before. It arrived promptly and the engraving was incredible."
